Uddhav govt embarrassed after farm loan waiver link redirected to online gaming portal

Mumbai/IBNS: In an embarrassment for the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, the weblink of farm loan waiver for farmers, which were given to farmers, was redirected to online gaming portal Candy Crush Saga, Times Now reported.

Amid the farm distress, the new government-led by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had announced farm loan waiver after assuming power in the state.

On Jan 18, a message containing the link of the farm loan waiver from the Maharashtra Agriculture Department was sent to the farmers.

However upon clicking the URL, the farmers were redirected to a page which was nothing else than the gaming portal.

While the investigations are on to find out whether the official link was tampered deliberately or not, Registrar in-charge Cooperation Commissioner Satish Soni is believed to have been suspended in the wake of the incident.

On Dec 21, the Maharashtra government, which is run by usual allies Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress, had announced a loan waiver upto two lakh for farmers with a cut off date of Sept 30, 2019.
