Shiv Sena (UBT) supremo Uddhav Thackeray met Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday, a day after the BJP leader jokingly extended an invitation to the former state CM to join the ruling alliance.

The meeting took place in the chamber of Legislative Council Chairperson Ram Shinde and lasted around 20 minutes.

Uddhav Thackeray was accompanied by his son and former minister Aaditya Thackeray.

"Today, at the Legislative Assembly, Uddhavsaheb Thackeray presented a copy of the book ‘Why Do We Need Hindi?’ to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Ji and Assembly Speaker Ram Shinde Ji. This book is a compilation of articles written by editors across the state opposing the trilingual mandate," Aditya Thackeray said in the post on X.

Issues such as the appointment of the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly and the controversial three-language policy were discussed during the meeting.

The meeting came just a day after Devendra Fadnavis invited Uddhav Thackeray to consider joining the ruling side during a farewell function of the Leader of the Opposition in the Council, Ambadas Danve.
