UK: DNA on teddies reveals India-origin student's perverted act in woman student's room

An Indian-origin teen has admitted to breaking into the room of a fellow student and even masturbating on her bed cover and soft toys.

The Indian student was identified as Udkarsh Yadav.

His sexual act was caught after his DNA was found on the victim's teddy bears and bed.

Udkarsh Yadav was "overcome with desire" when he burgled the young woman's bedroom and carried out the "disgusting and selfish" act, reported Chronicle Live.

Newcastle Crown Court heard that the Indian national used a key card which allowed him to access the rooms at Trinity Square.

The victim was visiting her home for Christmas when Yadav committed the act.

The victim returned after holiday to find that her bed cover and three Jellycat teddies had been defiled.

Prosecutor Jennifer Coxon told the court as quoted by Chronicle Live: "He was re-interviewed and the DNA evidence was put to him. He admitted the offence, stating he was overcome with desire and he was aware that the gym cards were set up incorrectly, which allowed access to all rooms."

Yadav, 18, of Howard Street, Newcastle, has reportedly admitted burglary with intent to cause criminal damage.

Recorder Mark McKone KC told the news portal: "It really is hard to imagine what was going through the defendant's mind when he did this."
