U'khand: Bus falls into gorge, 16 killed

Tehri, Sept 13 (IBNS): At least 16 people died as a bus fell into a gorge in Uttarakhand's Tehri district on Saturday, reports said.

The mishap occurred when the bus was on its way from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag .

More than 10 others were injured in the mishap.

“The police and the local administration helped the injured, three of whom were in critical condition and had to be air-lifted to Dehradun for the required healthcare,”  Tehri Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukhtar Mohsin told The Hindu.

The injured people were admitted in a hospital.

Following the mishap, state CM announced a  compensation of Rs. 1 lakh which will be paid to the kin of the dead while Rs. 50,000 will be given to severely injured passengers.
