Union ministers launch web portal Vajra and commemorative stamp on Survey of India

New Delhi, Jun 22 (IBNS): Union Minister for Science & Technology, Earth Sciences and Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Minister of State for Communications (I/C) and Railways, Manoj Sinha, launched the web-portal of “VAJRA” (Visiting Advanced Joint Research) Faculty Scheme of Science & Engineering Research Board and released a commemorative stamp on the occasion of 250 years of Survey of India, in New Delhi, on Thursday

Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Prof. Ashutosh Sharma and the Director General (M&C), PIB, Ira Joshi were also present.

Later tweeted Minister Sinha, "Released a set of Two commemorative postage stamps and a miniature sheet on "Survey of India" on the occasion of its 250th anniversary."

"Survey of India has the distinct honour of printing the first Postage Stamp of India and the first copy of the Constitution of India," Manoj Sinha said.

Talking to the media, Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the portal VAJRA will not only help India to boost the global ranking of Indian institutions but also draw the best of research personnel to the country.

With the introduction of the VAJRA scheme, the Union S&T ministry plans to invite top foreign scientists, including persons of Indian origin, to spend up to three months in Indian institutions, according to media reports.
