New Delhi/IBNS: A Delhi court on Monday convicted former Bharatiya Janata Party lawmaker Kuldeep Singh Sengar in connection with the rape of a 16-year-old girl in 2017 when she approached him for help to get a job.

The trial against the lawmaker was shifted to Delhi on order of the Supreme Court earlier this year.

The sentencing in the case might take place on Dec 19.

Another accused in the case-, who was identified as Shashi Singh, has been acquitted.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) earlier this month expelled its party MLA Kuldeep Sengar.
