Unnao/IBNS: The 23-year-old Unnao rape victim who was burnt last Saturday by the men accused of raping her was today buried in her native village, media reports said.

Her body was kept at her home in Unnao district as her family had refused to cremate her demanding a meeting with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The last rites were completed after a two-hour-long meeting with the top officials of the Unnao district.

The Uttar Pradesh government has paid a compensation of Rs 25 lakh and promised a pucca house under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna to the victim's family. A fast track court will be set up for the speedy trial of the case.

The family of the victim has also been assured police protection to save them from similar attacks in the future. The government has also agreed to fulfill any other demand of the family. Earlier, her sister had demanded a government job to support her family.

The 23-year-old rape victim died on Dec 6 after suffering 90 per cent burns after being set on fire by five people, including two of her alleged rapists, on Dec 5. She was on way to court to testify against the accused.

The young woman had died in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital of cardiac arrest. The main accused in the case had been released a week earlier on bail, media reports said.

Security has been beefed up around the house of the victim.

One of the two men accused of raping the young woman and then setting her on fire on Dec 6, was given bail on Nov 25 by the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on the grounds that he should not influence the witness of the crime.

"Applicant will not try to influence the witnesses or tamper with the evidence of the case or otherwise misuse the liberty of bail," the bail order read, reported NDTV.

The victim's father has demanded the perpetrators be shot, reacting to the police encounter of the Telangana rape and murder accused, reported the news organisation.
