UP: Two die after consuming spurious liquor in Etah

Etah/UNI: Two people died after drinking spurious alcohol in Bishnupur, Jamalpur Durjan village under Jalasher police station area in the district, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the incident occurred on late Friday in which one Raghuraj was admitted at a hospital in Hathras and the deceased were identified as Mahesh and Jaipal.

As soon as the incident was reported, Etah District Magistrate Ankit Agarwal, SSP Uday Shankar Singh, District Excise Officer Abhay Gangwar, and other officers reached the spot.

SSP Uday Shanker Singh said as per the preliminary investigation it was found that the 3 persons drank liquor on June 24 evening and they fell ill in the night.

Family members of Mahesh cremated the body without informing the police but the body of Jaipal has been sent for postmortem.

SSP said the investigation is underway.
