Urs of Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA), popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdan and Amir-e-Kabir, was celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir with religious fervour on Thursday.

People assembled in shrines and mosques to celebrate the occasion.

The largest congregation was held in Khanqah-e-Moula in downtown Srinagar city.

“We visit this shrine on the occasion of Urs every year. We have great faith in the saint who brought Islam here. It is a peaceful atmosphere when we participate in large gatherings and pray for everyone’s prosperity,” Abdul Aziz, a devotee from Budgam told Greater Kashmir.

To mark the occasion, every year, special congregational prayers and Zikr-o-Azkaar gatherings are held at the Shines and other religious places in Kashmir.
