Kolkata, July 10 (IBNS): Agents of United States federal law enforcement agency, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), on Tuesday interrogated five Chinese nationals in Kolkata who were arrested for carrying contraband narcotics with a market value of approximately 39 crore rupees, sources confirmed.

Two sleuths and a Chinese-English interpreter from the DEA reached West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) headquarter at Bhabani Bhavan in Kolkata's Alipore area at around 11 am. and they grilled the five Chinese drug peddlers, who are currently in state probe agency's custody till July 13, for more than 3 hours.

"While interrogating the arrested Chinese nationals, we noted few important inputs and we are looking into these," a DEA agent told IBNS.

"We will quiz them again if required," he added.

Earlier on June 29 midnight, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel had detained five residents of China's Guangdong province from Kolkata Railway Station at Chitpur area and seized 197 kg party drugs from their possessions.

They were handed over to the CID later.

After taking over probe into the international drug smuggling racket, CID investigators last week discovered a charcoal factory at Naoda in Murshidabad district where a drug processing unit was reportedly being run.
