Jaunpur: A 35-year-old man committed suicide after killing his wife, two daughters, and a son in the Mariahu area of Jaunpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Wednesday.

Police sources said that Nagesh alias Chhote Vishwakarma, a resident of Jai Rampur village, first killed his wife Radhika (32), daughters Nikita (12), Ayushi (8), and son Adarsh (10) with a stick late on Tuesday night and later committed suicide by hanging himself.

Police sources said that the incident came to light when Nagesh's neighbour and cousin, Sonu Vishwakarma, opened the gate of the house and found the bodies. Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr Ajay Pal Sharma inspected the spot.

The SP said that the motive behind the murders and suicides was not clear. "It will be investigated under what circumstances the incident took place. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination," he said.
