Uttar Pradesh: Minor Dalit girl criminally assaulted in Rae Bareli

A nine-year-old Dalit girl was criminally assaulted allegedly by a 55-year-old man in Khiron area of Rae Bareli district here in Uttar Pradesh, a police officer said here on Monday.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Naveen Kumar Singh said that the incident took place on Sunday where the Dalit girl was enticed and raped Peer Mohammad (55).

A case has been lodged against Peer Mohammad on the complaint of the victim's father, he said.

He said that efforts were being made to arrest the accused, who is absconding after the incident.

Four teams have been constituted to arrest accused Peer Mohammad, he said.

SP Alok Priyadarshi along with other senior officers inspected the spot.

The girl has been admitted to the hospital for treatment, the ASP said.
