Uttar Pradesh: Sisters commit suicide in Brahma Kumaris center in Agra
Two sisters committed suicide inside Brahma Kumaris ashram after accusing some members of the staff of indulging into immoral activities in Jagner area of Agra district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said here on Saturday.
Police sources said that Ekta (37) and her sister Shikha (34), both residents of Jagner town, were associated with Brahma Kumaris since 2005.
"After Brahma Kumaris center was set up on Basai road in Jagner town around four years back both the sisters started living there," they said.
Police sources said that late on Friday night Ekta and Shikha committed suicide in a room inside the center.
"Both the sisters had left separate suicide notes in which they accused some employees of the center for their death. The sisters have named one Neeraj Singhal, his father, Tarachand of Dholpur and a woman living in Gwalior center," they said.
Police sources said that before committing suicide the two sisters circulated their suicide notes on the WhatsApp group of the center.
"In her suicide note Ekta has urged Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath that persons responsible for their death should be punished like Asaram Bapu," they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sonam Kumar said that in their suicide notes Ekta and Shikha have levelled serious allegations against some employees of the center.
"On the basis of the suicide notes and complaint of the family members a case has been lodged and further action is being taken," he said.
