Ayodhya, July 16 (UNI): Samajwadi Party (SP) booth president Akhilesh Yadav aka Tikku Yadav was shot dead in the Maharajganj area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) S Anand here said that Tikku, 25, party booth president of the Admapur village, was returning after gymming from the Maya Bazar town on Monday evening when one Aditya, a resident of Ratanpur, shot him dead near the Kanakpur village.

The workers of the party are enraged over the incident.

Anand said that about 8-10 months back, both had had an altercation over stationing a bus at the stand. Following the argument, both were not on good terms with each other.

A case has been registered into this matter while a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
