Sitapur/UNI: Three people have been arrested by the police in connection with murder of a couple in Hargaon area of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Monday.

Station House Officer (SHO) Hargaon Bhanu Pratap Singh said that Abbas Ali (50) and his wife Kamrunisha (48) were beaten to death in Rajpur village on August 18 evening.

"On the complaint of the couple's daughter Yasmeen a case was lodged against Rampal Jaiswal, his wife Rampati, son Shailendra, son-in-law Pallu Jaiswal and Amarnath," he said.

He said that three accused, including Shailendra, Amarnath and Pallu, were arrested by the police late on Sunday evening.

"Efforts are being made to nab Rampal and his wife Rampati. The case is being investigated thoroughly," he said.

Police sources said that the son of the deceased couple had eloped with the daughter of the accused.

"It is being alleged that, infuriated with the incident, the accused killed Abbas and his wife," he said.
