Uttar Pradesh: Wanted criminal held in Pratapgarh

Pratapgarh, May 18 (UNI) A wanted criminal, carrying a reward of Rs 80,000 on his head was arrested by a team of the Chhattisgarh Crime Branch with the help of the local police in the Nagar Kotwali area of this district in Uttar Pradesh, police spokesperson said on Saturday.

The spokesperson said that upon receiving information, police arrested wanted criminal Javed from the Kotwali area on Friday evening, who was absconding after committing serious crimes like loot, dacoity, attempt to murder in Pratapgarh and Chhattisgarh.

A 'tamancha' and several cartridges were recovered from the miscreant's possession.

According to the spokesperson, Javed is a resident of Madyipur village in the Mandhata area of the Pratapgarh district and his name is included in the district's top 10 miscreants.

Three criminal cases in Chhattisgarh's Raipur and Durg district, 1 in Lucknow and 11 criminal cases in various police stations of Pratapgarh are registered against him.

Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh police is completing the paperwork to take Javed on a transit remand.
