Uttarakhand bus accident: Death toll touches 14; 9 injured

Dehradun, July 19 (IBNS): The death toll in the Uttarakhand bus accident has touched 14, while, 9 others have sustained injuries.

The accident happened after an Uttarakhand Transport Corporation bus skidded off Rishikesh Gangotri Highway on Thursday morning.

The vehicle was carrying 25 passengers.

A combined team of firepersons and disaster response volunteers carried out the rescue operations in the presence of District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate. 

The state government has announced ex gratia of Rs 2 Lakhs each for the next kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each for the wounded.

The injured are likely to be treated at AIIMS.

A magisterial inquiry has been initiated.
