Haldwani/UNI: Amid bird flu infection cases in different states of the country, the slump in the wholesale prices of eggs has also started in Haldwani's wholesale markets.

The wholesale prices of eggs were reported to fall at 59 paisa per egg on Saturday morning against the rates of last Friday while wholesale prices of poultry have also registered a decline of Rs 15 per Kg today.

In the beginning the whole egg traders attributed to rain and bad weather conditions for a very minor decline in the sale. Now they are seriously considering news of bird flu infection cases responsible for the slump down of the business.

Till Wednesday, the wholesale prices of the poultry were about Rs 120 per kilo in the city which has now dropped to Rs 85 per kilo on Saturday.

Poultry and egg traders in the city's wholesale market said that there is a high risk of further fall in the prices.
