WC: Goa MLAs to travel to Brazil at own expense

Panaji, June 13 (IBNS): Amid outcry over reports of six Goa MLAs flying to Brazil to watch the FIFA World Cup (WC) at government expense, the lawmakers on Friday said they will bear the costs of the trip themselves.

"All six of us will bear the cost ourselves. We should not take tax payers' money for our trip. We don't want any controversy," said Goa Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado told reporters.

Earlier reports said, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Goa will be spending Rs 90 lakh to send the six MLAs on a "study tour" to Brazil.
