Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met Flipkart Group Chief Executive Officer Kalyan Krishnamurthy and senior company executives on Tuesday to discuss expanding digital commerce, supporting small businesses and creating employment opportunities in the state.

The meeting, held at the state secretariat Nabanna, focused on strengthening collaboration in e-commerce and allied sectors, according to the Chief Minister's Office.

Krishnamurthy was accompanied by Flipkart Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Rajneesh Kumar and other senior executives.

In a post on X after the meeting, Krishnamurthy described the discussions as "constructive" and said they covered West Bengal's potential to become a hub for digital commerce, entrepreneurship and job creation.

He said West Bengal, home to Flipkart's largest fulfilment centre in India and one of the company's biggest markets, occupies a key place in the group's operations.

According to Krishnamurthy, the discussions also explored ways to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), artisans, farmers, food processing businesses and startups while expanding market access through technology, digital commerce and skilling initiatives.

He said Flipkart remained committed to working with the West Bengal government to create long-term economic opportunities in the state.
