West Bengal: Explosion inside post office at Siliguri, no casualty

Siliguri/UNI: An explosion during the office hours inside the India Post office at Pradhan Nagar branch here today created panic among the employees as well as customers, who ran for safety.

However, there had been no report of any casualty.

Personnel from the CID and bomb squad investigating the explosion said it was a low intensity blast and there was no casualty.

State armed police barricaded the area as the bomb squad and detectives using sniffer dog began a search operation inside and outside of the post office under Bhaktinagar area of Siliguri and Jalpaiguri.

They said the blast happened in a parcel bag, which was from Punjab, and the address was identified. The address was a resident of Rajivnagar and identified as Anup Kaman, who was summoned immediately.

Sources said, Anup Kaman recently bought an air gun and may be he had ordered for cartridges and and chamber, which may have explosive materials, which went off accidentally.

Investigation was on to ascertain the fact and details of the explosion.
