West Bengal: Two held with fake currency in Siliguri

Kolkata/Siliguri, Oct 16 (IBNS): West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Sunday nabbed two persons, including an ex-serviceman of Assam Rifles, along with FICN (Fake Indian Currency Notes) worth 44 thousands from Darjeeling More area under Siliguri Police Commissionerate's Pradhan Nagar Police Station limits in West Bengal, officials said.

According to reports, acting on specific source inputs, CID arrested Assam Rifle's ex-serviceman Pradeep Gogoi and his companion Sudhir Sarkar alias Sudhir Mondal and seized huge FICN from their possessions.

"Pradeep Gogoi, who is a resident of Dibrugarh in Assam, and West Bengal's Malda district's resident Sudhir Sarkar are the kingpins of a North-East based FICN racket," a senior official of CID told IBNS.

"We are interrogating them to kbow more about the racket and about its other operatives," he added.

The duo will be produced to a local court on Monday.
