Will do more 'Surya Namaskar' to make my back stronger: PM Modi jibes at Rahul Gandhi's 'danda' remark

New Delhi/IBNS: Taking a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi who during campaigning for Delhi polls said the youth will "beat" Narendra Modi with "sticks", the Prime Minister on Thursday said he will make himself stronger by doing more "Surya Namaskar".

Gandhi on Wednesday said the youth will hit Prime Minister Modi with sticks if he fails to address the issue of unemployment in the country.

Hitting back at the Congress MP from Wayanad without taking his name, Modi said, "I heard an Opposition MP saying 'we will beat Modi with sticks in 6 months'. I have also decided to do more Surya Namaskar. This will make my back even stronger to face abuses. In any case, I have been abused so much for the last two decades, their negativity hardly matters."

Following Modi's remark, Gandhi raised from his seat, pointed his finger at the Prime Minister and tried to say, "Why are you not talking about unemployment?"

"I have been speaking for 30 mins but now only some people realised," Modi replied.

The Prime Minister made the remark while he was speaking in reply to the motion of thanks on the President's Address.

Mocking the Opposition, mainly Congress, for saying the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is in hurry to take steps, Modi addressing the Lok Sabha said, "Had we continued on the road followed by the previous governments, Article 370 would not have been abrogated even after 70 years. Muslim women would continue to face the wrath of Triple Talaq."
