Will win all seven seats in Delhi: AAP

| @indiablooms | Apr 12, 2019, at 08:41 pm

New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI): Hitting out at the Congress for deciding not to go for an alliance with it in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi party on Friday said that it will defeat the other parties on all seven seats and the Congress' deposit will be forfeited in the national capital.

Addressing a press conference, AAP leader Gopal Rai said: "AAP's position in Delhi is stronger than Congress and it will defeat BJP on all seven seats all alone.’’

He alleged that the BJP MPs have behaved in a hateful manner with the people in the national capital and had a unreal behaviour towards the city.

Earlier , Mr Rai said that in 2014, BJP leader Harshvardhan said full statehood for Delhi was the first demand for the new Prime Minister.

He alleged that Dr Harshvardhan has betrayed the people of Delhi as the national capital was yet to get full statehood.

Earlier, the Congress announced it would go alone on all seven seats in Delhi.

Addressing the press, AICC general secretary in-charge for Delhi P.C. Chacko said: "We have been of the opinion that all secular parties should come together to fight the BJP. Therefore, in spite of the reservations within the Delhi Unit for an alliance with AAP, Congress president Rahul Gandhi gave me a go ahead for alliance talks with AAP in Delhi. During the talks , we asked that we be given three seats as per our vote share in the 2017 MCD elections.

However, AAP wanted a seat sharing alliance for Haryana and Punjab also. We, however, felt that the situation in these states is different and hence it was no feasible to have an alliance there.. Then day before yesterday, the AAP announced that they would not have any alliance with the Congress. In view of the above, we have decided to fight from all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.’’

Mr Chacko said that the party had already decided its candidates for four seats in Delhi and that the rest of the candidates would be announced soon.

At the same time, he indicated that doors were still open for an alliance with AAP in Delhi.

‘’If the conditions are right, we are even ready to have an alliance today, but having alliance in the other states seems not practical," Chacko said.
