Chandigarh, Apr 23 (IBNS) The man accused of abducting and raping a young woman in Muktsar in Punjab has been arrested, reports said.

The development comes a month after he was caught on camera dragging her out of her workplace in broad daylight on March 25. Though the 24-year-old woman screamed and struggled to free herself, nobody helped her.

The man  then  allegedly kidnapped and raped her in a farmhouse.

The accused has been identified as Gurjinder alias Jojo. Police claim the woman knew the assailant and the two belonged to the same village.

The young Dalit woman and her family has approached the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for help. The Commission has summoned the police officials seeking details of the probe into the incident.
