Lucknow, Sept 10 (IBNS): Defying the state government, BJP MP Yogi Adityanath held a rally at Lucknow city in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.

According to reports, local authorities refused to give the leader a permission to hold the rally in the city, worrying over a possible clash between BJP and the Samajwadi Party (SP) supporters.

The SP was scheduled to hold its own rally in the city.

The Election Commission had   issued a notice to the BJP MP for violating the model code of conduct.

The notice was issued to Yogi Adityanath for allegedly making statements appealing to voters on religious grounds.
