Fire in Kolkata's Chatterjee International
A major fire broke out at a multi-storied building, Chatterjee International, in the heart of Kolkata’s Chowringhee area on Tuesday (Sept 2, 2014). There were no reports of any casualties in the incident. At least 17 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames. The adjoining roads were partly closed as fire fighters were trying to enter the floors using hydraulic ladder. At least four persons trapped inside the building were rescued by the fire department. Very few people were inside the building as the fire broke out before the peak office hours. The area was also cordoned off to conduct the firefighting operations.
