Kolkata/IBNS: Kolkata might get another year of star-studded film festivals if some top Bollywood actors accept the invitations sent to them by the West Bengal government.

The government has invited acting legend Amitabh Bachchan, superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt to the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on Tuesday.

"For the film festival, we have invited Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir, Salman, Mahesh Bhatt and others," said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday.

While Bachchan and West Bengal's brand ambassador Shah Rukh Khan have attended multiple editions of KIFF since 2011, the two other Khans are yet to attend the festival.

After a year of gap over COVID-19, the 26th KIFF was held in Jan 2021.

The 27th KIFF is likely to begin on Jan 7, 2022, IBNS has learnt.
