B-town celebrities condemn Maharashtra shut down

New Delhi, Jan 3 (IBNS): Several Bollywood celebrities have condemned the shut down called in Maharashtra by some Dalit parties.

Train services have been disrupted and several buses vandalised in different parts of Maharashtra as the state is witnessing a strike called by Dalit groups in protest against the violence against members of the community in Pune two days ago, media reports said.

Around 250 Dalit groups have called the bandh. Heavy security have been deployed across the state.

Musician Vishak Dadlani tweeted: "Caste & Religion are truly the most despicable, most "anti-national" divisions among people. May all those who seek to divide humanity along these stupid and outdated lines, suffer untold miseries in both life and death."

Actor Pulkit Samrat posted: "And now the mortals of same faith fight over caste! We can find a reason. Always! Sigh....!! #MaharashtraBandh."

Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha tweeted: "The only good outcome of the tragedies for the past two days in Maharashtra is that People are now openly criticizing 'Divisive Politics'."
