Mumbai, Mar 5 (IBNS): The film fraternity has expressed their shock over the Indian government's decision to ban a documentary based on the 2012 Delhi gangrape.

Bollywood actress Kalki Koechlin tweeted: "Cricket was invented by the British. Let's BAN it. No no let's change the name. No no let's beep out the word from daily language. No, wha."

Music composer Vishal Dadlani said: "Hey, Govt! If you won't even WATCH the man talk about his sick mindset, how will you "change mindsets"? Idiot move! "

Actor Boman Irani said: "Documentaries are stories of truth! We should be embarrassed of the truth rather than the fact that the documentary got made#IndiasDaughter."

Actress Sophie Choudry tweeted: "#IndiasDaughter https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Tfaurfg7EQ&feature=youtu.be … We didn't have the guts to make it or air it! Im glad #BBC did! The truth hurts & it infuriates me!!"

Actor Ronit Roy said :"It hurts! It hurts a lot!! #IndiasDaughter."

Actress Shabana Azmi tweeted: "How can showing a criminal mouthing depraved views amt to lionising him? It can only create revulsion in the viewer and lead 2 introspection.Remedying horrific crimes needs efforts to probe sick mentalities that underlie them.blaming women for inviting rape resonates in society.Shift The Blame Shift The Shame to the perpetrator and not the victim was powerful rethinking post Nirbhaya and needs to get into our DNA."

Actress Tanisha Mukherjee said:"Seems like we care more about what2 eat in our country than we do abt the women, their protection &spreading awareness! #IndiasDaughter #beef."

The Narendra Modi government is considering to take legal action against British Broadcasting Corporation for airing in UK the documentary on the 2012 Delhi gangrape ignoring an official ban.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that the BBC should not have telecast the documentary, which deals with the brutalgangrape and killing of a 23-year-old paramedical student in a moving bus in December, 2012.

"We had requested BBC not to air the documentary, but they have gone ahead...Conditions have been breached...  We are examining all facts,We'll look into the legalities and take appropriate action," he said.

The Home Ministry had sent a copy of the court order prohibiting telecast of the documentary, "India's daughter,", which  BBC aired on Wednesday night in the UK and other countries.

Reports said the government has now asked YouTube and other sites where the links are being shared to remove them.

The documentary by British filmmaker Leslee Udwin includes interviews of Nirbhaya's parents, doctors,  police, lawyers and one of the rapists.

The documentary kicked up controversy as it includes certain comments of Mukesh Singh, one of the four men sentenced to death for rapeand murder holding the woman responsible for the fate she met.

In India it was to be telecast on NDTV.

While a Delhi court ordered a ban on it, the Union Home Ministry  said it would not allow the film's screening and investigate how permission was granted for the rapist's interview.
