Mumbai/IBNS: Accepting the World Health Organisation (WHO) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus' "Safe Hands" challenge, actress Deepika Padukone has tweeted a video giving a message to her followers amid the Novel Coronavirus outbreak.

Padukone could be seen in the video washing her hands for 20 minutes as advised by the WHO as well as the doctors to combat COVID-19.

The 34-year old Bollywood superstar has further nominated sports persons Roger Federer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virat Kohli for the challenge.

Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas is the other actress who has been nominated by the WHO director-general for the challenge.

Earlier Priyanka, a popular face in Hollywood now after reigning in Bollywood, had urged people to embrace Namaste, the Indian culture of greeting people by folding hands, to fight the Coronavirus.

She had tweeted, "It’s all about Namaste an old but new way to greet people in a time of change around the world. Please stay safe everyone!"

As per the last update, more than 7,500 people have died and above 180,000 people have been infected by the virus across the globe.

In India, where the situation is better than the western world, 164 people have been infected so far including 14 cured and three deaths.

Maharashtra, which recorded the maximum number of positive cases as of yet (more than 40), is under virtual lockdown.
