Chhapaak, which will be directed by Meghna Gulzar, is the story of acid-attack victim Laxmi Agarwal.

Agarwal will be essayed by Padukone onscreen. Actor Vikrant Massey also features in the film.

Padukone's look as Agarwal in the film has already been released.

This is the first project where Padukone and Gulzar are working together. Gulzar's 2018 film Raazi, which starred actress Alia Bhatt, was a big hit.

Padukone, now a senior Bollywood actress after being in the movie business for over 11 years, is also co-producing Chhapaak, which is slated to hit the big screens on Jan 10, 2020.
