Mumbai, Mar 27 (IBNS): Bollywood actor-director-singer Farhan Akhtar has deleted his Facebook profile over the ongoing data privacy row that has rocked the nation in last few days.

Farhan took to Twitter to inform that he has permanently deleted his Facebook account but the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active.

He tweeted, "Good morning. This is to inform you all that I have permanently deleted my personal Facebook account. However, the verified FarhanAkhtarLive page is still active."

The actor has deleted his profile in the wake of the reports that stated British firm Cambridge Analytica used the private data of more than 50 million Facebook users to influence voters during Donald Trump’s 2016 election campaign, and in several other polls around the world.

The row has reached in India too, as the two national parties, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, are accusing each other of breaching public's data privacy for electoral benefits.
