Kaanchi team visits Kolkata
Kolkata, Apr 22 (IBNS): Bollywood film director Subhash Ghai commenting on his upcoming flick 'Kaanchi', on Monday here said that, the movie promotes the voice of the youths against political tangles.
Ghai along with the leading pair from the movie, Mishti Mukherjee and Kartik Aryan were recently spotted in the city as part of the 3-city promotional tour for ‘Kaanchi-The Unbreakable’.
The director said, “Kaanchi is about the voice of the rural suppressed youth who can’t express their grievances."
“Kaanchi, a simple rural girl from a poor family, was not aware of the urban complexities, still she became the symbol of a revolution,” he said.
The film casts Rishi Kapoor, Mithun Chakraborty, Kartik Aryan, Mishti, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Rishabh Sinha and Adil Hussain.
Ghai noted that he had auditioned about 300 actors for 6 months, but ultimately got introduced to Mishti who was working for a Bengali film,by his Chief Assistant Arindam Roy.
Ghai has also penned and composed the rap song ‘Main Mushtanda’ for the film.
Speaking of her debut venture, Mishti expressed her gratitude for Ghai’s guidance that helped her bring out the bold rural girl battling corruption.
Kartik Aryan, who had earlier essayed light hearted roles in 'Pyar Ka Punchnama' and 'Akaash Vani', said his serious character in this film inspires and brings out the best in Kaanchi.
‘Kaanchi-The Unbreakable’, a film about women empowerment, is slated to hit the theatres on Apr 25.
