Kalank gets highest opening collection at box office in 2019

Mumbai, Apr 18 (IBNS): Surpassing all Hindi films released in 2019 so far, Abhishek Verman directorial Hindi period-drama Kalank has secured the highest opening collection at the Indian box office.

The film, which released on Wednesday, collected Rs. 21.60 crore on the first day.

Verman's film has a star-studded cast which includes Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonashi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur.

Film critic Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Kalank starts with a bang... Emerges biggest opener of 2019 *so far*... Plexes terrific... Impressive cast and hype + massive screen count [4000] + #MahavirJayanti holiday have contributed to a big total... Wed ₹ 21.60 cr. India biz."

In terms of box office collection, Kalank is now followed by Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari, which earned Rs. 21.06 crore on its opening day.
