NCB asks Karan Johar to explain video of party showing alleged drug consumption

Mumbai/IBNS: Filmmaker Karan Johar has been asked to explain about the widely-circulated video taken at his home in July last year that allegedly shows drugs being consumed, media reports quoting Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) sources said on Thursday.

The video, which features several top stars, is being investigated by the NCB as part of their probe into the drug angle in connection with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June.

Soon after the video went viral in social media and was criticised for alleged drug consumption at the party, Johar issued a public statement in connection with it in September.

He said that reports of drug consumption at his party were "slanderous" and "malicious".

"These slanderous and malicious statements, news articles and news clippings have unnecessarily subjected me, my family, and my colleagues, and Dharma Productions, to hatred, contempt and ridicule," Johar had said.

"I would like to unequivocally once again state that I do not consume narcotics and I do not promote or encourage consumption of any such substance," he added.
