Padmaavat grosses Rs. 253.80 crore in box office

Mumbai, Feb 12 (IBNS): Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Padmaavat is going strong at the box office as the film has grossed Rs. 253.80 crore so far.

From last Friday to Sunday, the film has earned more than 17 crores at the box office, critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

His tweet reads, "#Padmaavat continues its GLORIOUS MARCH... Records SUPER numbers on Sat and Sun... [Week 3] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 6.30 cr, Sun 8 cr. Total: ₹ 253.80 cr. Biz at a glance... Week 1: ₹ 166.50 cr Week 2: ₹ 69.50 cr Weekend 3: ₹ 17.80 cr Total: ₹ 253.80 cr India biz. SUPER-HIT."

The film stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles.

Padmaavat has hit the big screens on Jan 25 after widespread controversy.

The film's release was deferred for more than a month after several fringe groups had accused the filmmakers of distorting history and portraying Rani Padmini, played by Deepika onscreen, in poor light.
