New York/Mumbai, Sept 28 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished legendary singer and nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar as she turned 85 on Sunday.

Modi, who is currently in the US, tweeted: "On Lata Didi's birthday, I convey my warm greetings and pray for her long life & good health. @mangeshkarlata."

Lata Mangeshkar has delivered some of the most memorable duets with Manna Dey, Mohammed Rafi , Kishore Kumar and Mukhesh.

She is the second vocalist to have ever been conferred the prestigious Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour.

The goddess of music, as referred in India, has featured in the Guinness Book of World Records from 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world.

The claim was that she had recorded approximately 25,000 solo, duet, and chorus-backed songs in 20 Indian languages between 1948 to 1974.
