Protests against Aamir's 'PK'

Mumbai, Dec 29 (IBNS) Religious activists have demonstrated against Aamir Khan's latest release 'PK' as they alleged that the movie has insulted Hindu gods.

Few theatres in Mumbai stopped showing the film amid threats by religious activists.

"We are soft targets. Around 40 people came to the theatre and said stop the screening or we will ransack your building," Punit Shah, the owner of Deepak Talkies, told NDTV.

According to reports, protests against the film have occurred in several states like Ahmedabad and Agra.

Meanwhile, a battle has started in the world of internet as  rival hashtags - #BoycottPK and #WeSupportPK- are circulating in popular social networking site Twitter.

Amid protests, 'PK' has witnessed an unprecedented record breaking 2nd weekend.

PK on 2nd Sunday saw more than 50 percent over 2nd Friday making the movie highest 2nd weekend ever.

The second weekend of the Aamir Khan starrer fared phenomenally at the box office because of the strong word of mouth and the high number of repeat audience.

PK collected record Rs. 22.10 cr on Sunday, taking the 2nd Weekend collection to 53.66cr and total collection to Rs. 236.24. (Friday: 26.63cr; Saturday 30.34cr, Sunday38.24 cr, Monday – 21.22cr, Tuesday – 18.85cr, Wednesday – 19.55cr,Thursday (Christmas) – 27.55cr, Friday – 14.44cr, Saturday -  17.12cr, Sunday – 22.10cr).
