Ranveer Singh breaks silence after film workers' body issues non-cooperation directive over Don 3 exit

In a statement issued through his spokesperson, the actor said he continues to hold “the highest regard” for the film fraternity and everyone associated with the Don franchise.

He added that he consciously chose to remain silent amid the controversy, believing that “professional discussions and personal equations are best handled with dignity, maturity and mutual respect.”

The statement further said Ranveer did not wish to contribute to speculation surrounding the project and remained focused on his upcoming commitments while wishing the franchise continued success.

"While several narratives and speculations have surfaced over time, Ranveer has never considered it necessary to respond publicly or contribute to conjecture. His focus remains firmly on his work and the commitments ahead," his spokesperson said.

FWICE says Ranveer ignored multiple notices

The development comes after FWICE announced a non-cooperation directive against the actor, claiming he failed to respond to repeated requests to appear before the federation and present his side.

At a press conference, FWICE Chief Advisor and Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association President Ashok Pandit said filmmaker Farhan Akhtar formally approached the body with a complaint on April 11.

According to Pandit, the complaint alleged that Ranveer withdrew from Don 3 just weeks before the production unit was scheduled to leave for the shoot, causing significant disruption to the project.

Pandit said the federation followed due process by inviting both parties for discussions.

While producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani attended the meeting and explained their concerns, Ranveer allegedly did not respond despite several reminders.

'No one is above industry rules'

FWICE President B N Tiwari said the matter extended beyond a disagreement between an actor and producers, stressing that sudden production halts also impact thousands of workers and junior artists dependent on film projects for income.

“When a film suddenly stops, daily wage workers also suffer financial losses,” Tiwari said, adding that “even a superstar is not above industry rules and regulations.”

The federation has appealed to all affiliated associations and producer bodies to support the non-cooperation directive until the dispute is resolved.

The controversy marks a major escalation in the ongoing Don 3 row and has sparked fresh debate around accountability, contractual commitments and the role of industry bodies in Bollywood disputes.
