Mumbai/IBNS: Indian actor Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with lung cancer, film trade analyst Komal Nahta tweeted last night.

Nahta said, "Not the new dreaded ‘C’ (Coronavirus), it’s the other dreaded ‘C’, Cancer, that Sanjay Dutt has been diagnosed with."

As per media reports, Dutt will fly off to the United States for an immediate treatment.

Earlier Dutt, who had tested negative for Covid-19, had said on Twitter, "Hi friends, I am taking a short break from work for some medical treatment. My family and friends are with me and I urge my well wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!"

"Just wanted to assure everyone that I’m doing well. I’m currently under medical observation & my COVID-19 report is negative. With the help & care of the doctors, nurses & staff at Lilavati hospital, I should be home in a day or two. Thank you for your well wishes & blessings," he had said on Aug 8.

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who had successfully battled lung cancer, wrote a heartfelt note for the veteran actor in the micro-blogging site.

Yuvraj tweeted, "You are, have and always will be a fighter @duttsanjay. I know the pain it causes but I also know you are strong and will see this tough phase through. My prayers and best wishes for your speedy recovery."
