The fierceness in the female lead drew me to this project: Khushi Dubey on her OTT debut 'Aashiqana'

Mumbai: After doing big budget films like "Dil Dhadakne Do" and "Bombay Talkies", Khushi Dubey finally made her OTT debut with Disney+ Hotstar's "Aashiqana".

She was quite excited about the web series and shared that her character in the show is quite interesting.

"In 'Aashiqana' I play the role of Chikki. She is very lively, passionate and enthusiastic and represent the energy of youth . She is the perfect blend of simplicity, youthfulness, and courage and wants to become a cop. She might come across as a girl-next-door waiting to fall in love but as the story progresses the audience will witness her grit to prove to the society that she can be so much more. She has battles to fight and won’t give up until she unearths the truth. The fierceness in the female lead drew me to this project," she said.

The series also stars Zayn Ibad Khan. The young actress praised her co-star and said, "Zayn is a wonderful co-star. When I first met him I never felt like I was meeting him for the first time. He is a very supportive, focused, chilled-out and fun-loving person. He keeps pulling my leg, but has always made me feel comfortable. I share a very good bond with him and I am sure the audience will love our chemistry."

Khushi has been the camera's sweetheart since she was five. A chance meeting with her father's friend opened the doorways to the entertainment world for her. Revealing more about it, she said, "My father’s friend once visited our house and told them that my eyes are very expressive. He later sent a team to do a photoshoot and soon I bagged my first print ad. My big screen debut happened when I was five and a half. I did Vikram Bhatt's 'Ankahee', which also featured Ameesha Patel and Aftab Shivdasani."

"Since then I have done a lot of shows as a child artist, like 'Naaginn', 'Kaisa Yeh Pyaar Hai', 'Rakhee', and 'Sangam', to name a few. I have a lot of commercials too, like with Amitabh Bachchan for Rin, and for Getz Car with Sania Mirza. My big budget films would be 'Dil Dhadakne Do', and 'Bombay Talkies'," she added.

Any dream roles? "Every role is a dream role for me. A new project means you need to think and act like a completely new person. You have to be around new people and a new environment and you need to put your best foot forward so that people love you on and off screen. That's what I aim to do with every new show, film or series I take up. I give it my heart and soul and make it my dream role. This is a field where you don't get to correct your mistakes. It's always on record. So why not give your best and make it worth it," Khushi concluded.
