Mumbai, Feb 8 (Just Earth News/IBNS) With joy in the air for LGBT community in India post the Supreme Court referring the Sec 377 petition to a 5 judge bench, there is more reason to rejoice.

KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival International, South Asia’s biggest LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) film festival, has announced an international poster design contest with a cash prize of Rs.20,000.

To be judged by Padma Shri Wendell Rodricks, one of India’s top fashion designers, the contest is open to amateur and professional artists and graphic designers from across the world.

"It gives me great pleasure to support the KASHISH 2016 international poster contest. Hope the poster reaches out to more people, not just the LGBT community, but hearts all over so that opinions and laws can change to provide liberty, dignity and unity in a troubled world for many people,’’ said Rodricks who has also judged the contest last three years.

The winning poster will be the look of the seventh edition of KASHISH, which will be held fromMay 25-29, 2016 in Mumbai. The theme this year is ‘7 Shades Of Love’, underlining the message that at the core of human relationships is the capacity to love each other and offer respect so that each person can live with equality and dignity.

The winning design will be featured on billboards, banners, cinema slides, delegate cards, T-shirts and catalog cover.

"Times are changing and KASHISH tries to keep pace with the changing times and moods. This year’s theme resonates with the basic need for everyone to be loved and respected. LGBT persons too need that love and respect which has been long overdue. This year the festival promises a selection of films that looks at love in all its shades and hues’’ said festival director Sridhar Rangayan.

The deadline for submissions is February 15, 2016.

THEME: ‘7 Shades of Love’

The 7th edition of KASHISH Mumbai International Queer Film Festival, South Asia’s biggest LGBTQ film fest, will sing paeans to the ‘7 Shades of Love’.

Love in all its forms has been celebrated as the highest form of human emotions since the beginning of civilization – romantic love or Eros, friendship or the love between friends, the love between a parent and a child, the first stirrings of love between young lovers to the enduring love  of committed partners, the love for humanity and the love and acceptance of one’s true self. The festival theme for 2016, ‘7 Shades of Love’ embodies this spirit. It underlines that at the core of human relationships is the capacity to love each other and offer respect so that each person can live with equality and dignity.
