Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara actor Abhay Deol 'reveals' how Bollywood lobby works

| @indiablooms | Jun 19, 2020, at 07:48 pm

Mumbai/IBNS: It seems that the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput has opened a dark chapter in Bollywood as it is now 'Aisha' actor Abhay Deol who revealed how the lobby works in B-town.

Abhay claimed that he and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara co-star Farhan Akhtar were "demoted" from lead to supporting actor status at award shows while Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif were treated as leads of the 2011-released movie.

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was one of the major hits of the year and is still considered as one of the memorable movies created in the B-town.

Deol said he boycotted the awards that year.

"'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', released in 2011. Need to chant this title to myself everyday nowadays! Also a great watch when anxious or stressed," he posted on Instagram.

“Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, released in 2011. Need to chant this title to myself everyday nowadays! Also a great watch when anxious or stressed. I would like to mention that almost all the award functions demoted me and Farhan from main leads, and nominated us as “supporting actors”. Hrithik and Katrina were nominated as “actors in a leading role”. So by the industry’s own logic, this was a film about a man and a woman falling in love, with the man supported by his friends for whatever decisions he takes. There are many covert and overt ways in which people in the industry lobby against you. In this case it was shamelessly overt. I of course boycotted the awards but Farhan was ok with it. #familyfareawards Very creative artwork @kalakkii

Sushant's suicide has led his fans as well as several film personalities to call out the Bollywood biggies including Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt for allegedly encouraging "nepotism", "favouritism" and controlling power in the Hindi film industry.

Sushant committed suicide at his Mumbai residence on Sunday.
