CWG: India's Gururaja Poojary wins silver, opens medal account

Gold Coast, Apr 5 (IBNS): Gururaja Poojary has opened India's medal account at the Commonwealth Games by clinching silver in the 56 kg category weightlifting on Thursday, reports said.

In Table Tennis, the Indian female peddlers defeated their Sri Lankan counterparts 3-0, while the shuttlers (badminton) in the mixed division trounced the same opposition by a margin of 5-0.

Meanwhile, India's women weight-lifter Mirabai Chanu has broken the CWG record in snatch by lifting 86 kilo grams of weight in the 48 kg women category.

"What a brilliant performance! #India’s weightlifter Mirabai Chanu (48kg) has broken the #Commonwealth record/ games record in snatch by lifting 86kg at #GC2018. She’s a TOPS athlete!#SAI," tweeted Sports Authority of India.
