Dynamos aim to secure the top position on the League Table

New Delhi, Dec 1 (IBNS) The Dynamos have become the second team after defending champions Atletico de Kolkata to qualify for the last four stages with 21 points from 12 games.

Delhi Dynamos finished fifth last year and missed qualification for the semi-finals by a single point.

However, in this season the Dynamos have lifted themselves into the semis with two games to spare.

Having narrowly missed out on the semis last season, Delhi has displayed an improved brand of football right from the beginning of the season.

The team, coached by one of the all-time best left-backs and former Brazilian World Cup winner Roberto Carlos, has been one of the best teams in terms of defending and has let the least number of goals go through their post.

After 12 matches, Delhi is at the third spot with 21 points and is trailing Goa by one point. However, Delhi has an advantage in hand, having played less number of matches compared to all the other teams in top-four.  Should The Lions win their games in hand, the Carlos army could leapfrog booth Kolkata and Goa to the top spot.

Commenting on qualifying for the semi-finals Carlos said, “Qualifying for the play offs feels great! The morale of the players is on a high after the last win and we would want to continue with our momentum against Kerala as well. We are looking forward to playing our last two league games in front of our home fans.”

Prashant Agarwal, DDFC President said, “Delhi Dynamos have given their fans a reason to celebrate and there is no stopping them now. With the current form of the team, we are confident to qualify for the finals but that can only happen with the love and support of our fans. We welcome with open arms all the DDFC fans to come and cheer for their home team in the upcoming matches.”
