England beat Sri Lanka by 10 runs

New Delhi, Mar 26 (IBNS) England beat Sri Lanka by 10 runs in an ICC World T20 Super 10 stage match here on Saturday.

Posting 171 for the loss of four wickets, England bowlers restricted South Africa at 161 for eight in their 20 overs.

Hitting three boundaries and five sixes, Angelo Mathews attempted to give his side the needed momentum in his unbeaten 73 runs knock.

Chamara Kapugedera (30) and Thisara Perera (20) gave him support but English bowlers pulled things back and picked up wickets at crucial points to win the match.

Chris Jordan picked up four wickets for England.

Riding on Jos Buttler 's unbeaten 66, England posted 171 runs on the scorecard.

Jason Roy gave England a strong start with his 42 runs.

Jeffrey Vandersay took two wickets for Sri Lanka.
