Kashmiri Wushu martial arts champion nurturing young talents in Valley

Srinagar: Popular martial arts player Jabeena Akhtar is nurturing young talents to improve the prospect of the game in Jammu and Kashmir.

Akhtar is a Wushu champion and the first Kashmiri woman to have mastered the sport.

Based in the Baramulla district's Tangmarg area, Jabeena won a bronze medal in the International Wushu Championship held in Eravan, Armenia in 2017, ANI reported.

She is reportedly running her own academy.

She plans to empower youth in the valley.

She has trained nearly 600 girl students in the academy.

Besides being the general secretary of Wushu Association in Baramulla, Jabeena is also the brand ambassador of "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" scheme, reports ANI.
