Lalit Modi bids farewell to cricket administration for now
Lalit Modi is living in exile in the United Kingdom after he was charged with money laundering in India as a cricket administrator.
Modi, who was the President of the Nagaur District Cricket Association in Rajasthan, informed about his resignation on Twitter.
"Dear Fans of cricket & the lifeline of the game. I want to take this oppertunity 2 thank each & everyone of you for making @IPL what it " Modi tweeted from London where he is in exile.

He shared his letter to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri on Twitter where he said: "I am leaving cricket in capable hands of people like you, who have already made a remarkable progress in a short span of time. I honestly believe a system is more important than any individual. Indian cricket is truly an example of my belief. I will always be a loyal fan of Indian cricket."
"I have done my part for the betterment of Rajasthan cricket, and now it is your turn to honor your part of the promise! I repose my faith in you and the BCCI to do the right thing" he added.
Modi, who was not only the first chairman of the IPL, but is also said to be the father of the money spinning format of cricket.
Earlier, the BCCI banned the Rajasthan Cricket Administration for Lalit Modi's presence in the Nagaur District Cricket Association.
Modi even asked BCCI to release funds to the Rajasthan Cricket Association for the betterment of cricket.
"But for Rajasthan to aim higher, we need funds from the BCCI which is our rightful share" he said.
The Indian Premier League was the idea created by Modi himself and initiated the tournament back in 2008 which turned out to be the most profitable cricketing league.
In the first three years, Modi was at the helm and even successfully ran the second edition of the IPL in South Africa.
The former IPL chairman did not miss to make a reference to the success of the IPL in his letter to Johri.
Speaking about the success of the IPL, Modi said: "..the successful conduct of the 10th edition of IPL earlier this year made me the happiest man in the whole wide world as it helped the BCCI achieve what we had set out to make, not to mention the unheard-of sponsorship value under your astute leadership bring another stark reflection on the potential value of Indian cricket."
