MS Dhoni's application for 'Captain Cool' trademark accepted
Former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's application for trademark 'Captain Cool' has been accepted, media reports said.
Dhoni, who is one of the most celebrated Indian cricketers, had filed the application on June 5.
The Trademark Registry now shows the application as "accepted and advertised".
Dhoni, who won the World Cup in both T20Is and ODIs as the Indian skipper, earned the nickname 'Captain Cool' for his calm demeanour and cool-headed on-field captaincy.
Dhoni has been inducted to the ICC Hall of Fame, in another feather in the cap of the country's World Cup winning skipper.
Celebrated for his calm under pressure and unmatched tactical nous, but also a trailblazer in the shorter formats, Dhoni’s legacy as one of the game’s greatest finishers, leaders and wicketkeepers has been honoured with his induction into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
With 17,266 international runs, 829 dismissals and 538 matches across formats for India, Dhoni’s numbers reflect not just excellence but extraordinary consistency, fitness and longevity.
Reacting to his presence in the august company, the former India skipper stated that this honour would stay with him forever.
"It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world. To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever."
Dhoni, who led India to victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy, retired from international cricket in 2020.
The former skipper still plays in the cash-rich domestic T20 tournament, Indian Premier League (IPL).
The wicketkeeper-batter, who made his international debut in 2004, plays for Chennai Super Kings.
